As you know that urdu is the main language of Pakistan and after the advent of Windows 7 many of us are already get used to typing in urdu whether its putting comments in social media or writing professional articles it has become a must for every urdu speaker to install urdu keyboard to his windows pc. And one of most common keyboard layout used for this purpose these days is phonetic keyboard which makes writing in urdu very easy if you know how to type in english. Many of you already know to install it in windows 7. As you know the GUI of windows 8 and the latest windows 10 is somewhat different from windows 7 so it makes little bit difficult for recent up graders to windows 10 to install it quickly.
In this HOW TO article i am going to guide you through how to install urdu phonetic keyboard layout in Windows 10.
Just follow these steps below
1. Log into windows as administrator.
2. Now left click on start button at left bottom of the screen and then left click on settings.
3. In new window click on time and languages.
4. In new window click on Region and Languages in left panel. Here you will see English as the default language. so first we have to add urdu to the system here for this purpose
5. click on add a language
6. then scroll down to the end where you will see urdu language click on it you will see two options of indian urdu or pakistani urdu click upon pakistani urdu.
7. so now we have two languages in our system english and urdu.
8. now if you want to apply urdu as language of the whole system just click on urdu pakistan and click on set as default. its up to you
(do not make urdu as default system language if you don't want all windows terminologies displayed in Urdu)
10. save the file to any location in your computer and then extract the file.
11. after extraction open the folder and double click on setup and install it.
12. after installation repeat step 1,2and 3.
13. Now click on the options of urdu pakistan.
14. you will see two keyboard layout urdu and CRULP Urdu phonetic v1.1. so basically you have two urdu keyboard layouts if you don't want the default urdu keyboard layout just remove it and you will be left only with CRULP Urdu phonetic v1.1 keyboard layout which is more convenient in my view.
Note: for quickly changing keyboard layout between english and urdu press windows key+ space
And if you open onscreen keyboar you will get these
